This year NAATI has introduced a new certification system for the translating and interpreting (T&I) sector in Australia.This new certification scheme will also be used by government to set industry payment conditions for independent contractor interpreters and translators. NAATI certification will become the industry standard for working in the profession. The change is considered as an important step in the ongoing professionalization of the sector in Australia and will lead to improved standards in the long term.

Over the next 12 months, current NAATI accredited translators and interpreters will migrate across to the new certification system.
